Our mother nature

Our mother nature Rise Against-ready to fall is a rock music video that shows how we abuse animals. If you watch it, focus on the video not the music. It shows you how we have no respect for animals and our human nature. This abraders trend that has had been going on for quite a while. They have mentioned it on the news, commercials, and in many other things. This ideology works as a particular society that shows how we have been abusing animals for many years now, as all the chemicals we spray, throw trash on the ground, and hunt animals is not healthy for our mother nature. Well as I been watching the news lately, they have been talking about how there is an oil spill in the ocean. They showed how the animals have been dying of that and we haven’t done anything about it. People also have been throwing trash while they are on beaches, that trash goes to a specific place where lots of animals live and they end up eating it. The video I’m showing you is how we are affecting the animals. The animals being slaughtered will soon be a thing of the past. http://youtu.be/XN2FrUUq-zI

Murder to Excellence

"314 soldiers died in Iraq, 509 died in Chicago," Kanye West raps about his hometown, who's 2009 figures show 16 homicide cases for every 1,000 residents. Kanye and Jay-Z share their verses which touch upon the ideologies of violence and racial dominance in a new track entitled "Murder to Excellence." It's filled with recent controversies, including the chorus which brings up the argument over the use of the phrase "Black-on-black murder," which many academics claim that the media is innapropriately using this term to degrade and attack black culture. The song in a whole however is contains relevant messages about violence in the United States but broadens into the current state of mind about how few african-americans reach high levels of success, and how American society has commonly been known as a place where it is hard for people of other races to find oppurtunity and make their way in this country.

It starts "This is to the memory of Danroy Henry," a college football player killed by a police shooting, where controversially the officer who shot him was later given the Officer of the Year award. After he continues about systematic racism and violence in african-american America, Kanye enters with one of the most powerful lines off the album, "I'm from the murder capitol where they murder for capital," referring to Chicago, he continues on about death and murder before the music slows down and haunting humming can be heard in the background, then Jay-Z and Kanye switch to a more politically and economically charged rap about "Black excellence, opulence, decadence."

In the end Kanye spits out his strongest point in his argument, "What's the life expentancy for black guys? The system's working effectively, that's why," the rapper uses these lines to assert that the reason the life expectancy for african-americans is lower than caucasians is because of the racist way that the United States political economy is designed. Jay-Z however wants to bring up a seperate point, referencing successful african-americans Will Smith and Oprah, rapping "that ain't enough we gonna need a million more." Both of these artists are trying to create conversation, they are voicing their opinions on the problems in our thinking and in the ways we act. The full song's lyrics can be found below.

The Ideology of Womens Rights

All women today aren’t appreciated in one or another. Whether it is getting abused by boyfriends or not being heard in the government system such as Hilary Clinton (who sadly lost). Women aren’t heard these days just like they weren’t in the 1900’s. Beyoncé, an R&B artist stands out in the industry because she is pretty much known all over the world so she uses her fame and music to get her point across. She has a song which is called: “Who Run The World (Girls)” and she goes into depth about how women can be heard and have their opinion accepted in today’s society.
The song “Who Run The World (Girls)” is a well-known song all over the US and many other continents as well. In this song Beyoncé is talking about how women are powerful in today’s society whether they believe it or not. Although the song is well known it isn’t as accepted as much as her other work. Her fans (which are women) aren’t accepting the song as a boost for their self-esteem. They are agreeing with the men and saying they aren’t powerful, they DON’T run the world! Critics are saying that the song “aren’t what they expected…” and “one minute its brilliant, like Beyoncé is imitating a proud lion or a gorgeous gazelle and next she’s a parody of a beaver or a bunny rabbit.” So not so many people are happy about what she is trying to accomplish.
Beyoncé is using phrases like “Disrespect us? No they won’t,” which is interpreting no they won’t abuse us, we won’t be disrespected. “Help me raise a glass for the college grads,” saying women are successful they are needed for something in this society. “…Better cut my check,” meaning appreciate what I am doing in society and recognize that I am successful in life. Beyoncé is a self-motivated and influential artist who is very recognized and is empowering women to be the best that they can be which is great in this society because women aren’t as self-confident as men are. And on top of being a women she has an all women band on all her concerts so show how powerful women are as one.

Americans are Uniting to Family

The work that I decided to write about popular culture is a movie call Madea Big Happy Family. This movie is important because it shows how families have broken apart. These days compared time in the past; know everybody is so busy on their own worlds that they don’t have time to see what is really important. Letting anything to stop them from them giving time of what is important “family”. This movie just came out on 2011 but it started in 2010 as a musical play. This movie brings a point that lately has come out with the important topic, of importance as it is family unity. The disunity of the family is a trent that has been increasing to the year and is know the case of popular culture.
This movie explains how families that are not united break o part for example there are a lot of diverse conflicts, crime increasing because the lost of family principals. It shows a stereotype of family of African Americans have a lot of conflicts. This movie shows that American’s families’ structure is in danger of disappearing. The movie says that about American ideology that people is becoming more apart of families.
In summary the movie shows lock of communication between families can bring conflict to the family member and it can cause problems.
Statistics says that the crime is increasing because of the families that are apart. One specific scene of the movie is when the daughter losses the opportunity to talk with her mother before she dies, this happen because she lost the family unity.

Reddit- Ben Barncord

Reddit is a social site which aggregates all kinds of content; from news, to advice on what to do in legal trouble. While a generally helpful society, like any society, there are some people on there who aren’t helpful. They are usually ousted from the site for being rude or unhelpful. Sometimes, people who appear to be unhelpful are actually just criticizing the overall structure of the website or the people who run it. Although people try to be helpful, the dominant society on it doesn’t really exist, since they have a lot of opposing ideas and opinions which most of the time lead to a neutral society.

Reddit is a social aggregation site where people can rate what people say. Due to the many different opinions, and having all of them in one space would be chaos, they made several subsections called subreddits. People on a subreddit have the same opinions on things or have questions about it, which they ask. To make prophylactic things known by others, they have a voting system where you can basically say if something is good or bad. Some things are more popular than others and some people try to get them most upvotes for their posts.

I think that, while there isn’t a dominant society, the people in the subreddits want things to be in dominant society. The religious ones want there to only be their religion, but since there are about the same amount of people in them, there isn’t any dominance. For politics though, generally, people are more freedom and the importance of the self. There aren’t really a lot of people who are against freedom and liberties, they were even breaking the Libya revolution story a week before the news did. I do believe that they are a generally good society with a dominant culture of naturalness and happiness

American Dad racist?

The work of culture I decided to use for this assignment is "American Dad". "American Dad" reinforces the ideologies that caucasions are the dominant race. "American Dad" has been on since 2005. It is currently played on several television channels and is planning to continue well past 2012. I must admit that the show is hilarious, but it deffinatly has racial problems. Anyone not from america seeing this show is forced to stereotype most americans. It also forces people to think wrongly of other races.

"American Dad" is a show about a white male that works at the Cia. At the Cia they make jokes about all other ethnicitys and dodnt do anything. Ther also is no other people besides white men at the cia. In every episode there is a moment wher the main character Stan, makes fun of an ethnicity such as Chinese, or African Americans. In one episode I saw recently they had an african american girl working with Steve, Stan’s son, on a homework assignment. Then francine walked in and told the young girl you need to go leave this house, now. Then she revealed her problems with that race. She just didn’t like them. I find that incredibly racist.

An example of "American Dads" Racism is this quote “ Stan: So, what part of Islam do you hail from? Bob: Well, my parents were from Iran, but I was born in Cleveland. Stan: Really? You know, we also have a Cleveland here in America. And it'd be just super if you didn't blow it up.”. Now as you can tell bob is an Iranian, but this is extremely racist. I have to admit the show is hilarious and I watch it almost every night, and America is given the right to freedom of speech, but isnt this a going ove the edge a little?

Tribal Seeds: Warrior

Tribal Seeds is a Southern California based reggae band. They are part of a trend that is trying to show people, through music, that materialism isn't the key to happiness. The band is a critic trying to squash the ideology of materialism. They are trying to send a message to the youth that theres more to life than bragging about having this and that or boasting about how awsome you are. Tribal Seeds are trying to break the bond between materialism and happiness that has been put on society.

The reggae band was started by two brothers who grew up in Southern California. Their music is greatly influenced by Bob Marley, Steel Pulse, and Midnite, who are also reggae bands. The band was started in 2006 and since then have dropped three albums all with great sucess. They are just finishing up their 2011 tour in the next few months. They are a spiritually driven group that has created an art form of rebel music.

Tribal Seeds released an album titled "Youth Rebellion". This albums goal was to send a positive message to the youth. They want to change what the youth value, becuase we are tuaght to live a "materialistic happy" life. We see in our society, on T.V. and through music, that happiness comes from what you have or own and also from being number one. Tribal Seeds want to inspire us to forget this ideology and live good lives knowing the bad things we do will come back to huant us one way or another. There is a song from this album called "Warrior". In the song it says, "Babylon tries to threaten innocent but we nah afraid So let them have their riches and gold and set upon their throne Jah word is power, his strength is unknown, unknown." This is saying society threatens the innocent and we should let those materialistic people sit on their so called "thrones" and let them live that way, but we should stick to our own beleifs and our strength is powerful. The message they send is strong and we should really listen to it and branch out from the ideology of materialism society has brought upon us.
