I chose the Olympics for my pop culture. It is important because it brings almost the entire world together to participate in sports and forget conflicts that are going on. The Olympics have been going on for thousands of years. The first Olympic games were held in the 8th century BC to the 4th century AD. Those were called the Ancient Olympic Games held in Olympia, Greece. The Olympics we know weren’t started till 1894. The last Olympic games were in Beijing, China. The Olympics are talked about all over the world by almost every one when they are going on. This shows the ideology of togetherness. Not many people work together and are together anymore. A lot of people just work by themselves and do things for themselves. The Olympics on the other hand bring all countries together to compete in Athletic events. The athletes work for the medals to bring back to their country. America is a highly advanced country and we have a ton of great athletes but that doesn’t matter because all of the countries have great athletes. It shows that even though we might be better than some countries because we are advanced that everyone is equal.
The Olympics are held every four years. There is one in the summer then two years later one in the winter then two years later one in the summer so on and so on. During the summer Olympics athletes gather to have competitions in swimming, running, field sports and much more. During the winter Olympics athletes compete in events such as skiing, snowboarding, and bobsledding. Of course there a tons of events they compete in at both Olympics these are just some. I think the Olympics are great because they gather most countries for one huge event.
The Olympics bring everyone together. They do this by having all the events that they do. They compete against other countries and sometimes they even compete against their own country. Even if a country only competes in one event they are still brought together at the beginning. At the beginning of the Olympics there is a huge ceremony that brings all the countries together and introduces them. This is a big deal because without this you might not know about some countries. I think this really shows how the Olympics bring the world together. It says on Wikipedia that “The Games have grown in scale to the point that nearly every nation is represented” and that just is showing how all countries can go and brings them together.

Yes, I agree with you that The Olympic Game helps every countries to connect other counties more other like at the beginning that they introduce other counties how they are and yeah even though their country complete only one or more events but every countries still be together, and help each other. But too bad that not every countries join Olympic Game.
